Just 30 minutes from Portugal's oldest town
Alojamento Rio Neiva sits in Tregosa, Barcelos, deep in the Minho countryside, around 30 minutes by car from Ponte de Lima. It is the ideal base for exploring Portugal's oldest town at your own pace without being tied to the historic centre: stroll across the Roman and medieval bridge over the River Lima in the morning, enjoy a long lunch of regional cooking, then drive back to the quiet of the countryside for a dip in your private pool.
You rent the whole house, just for your group. There is no sharing with other guests and no common corridors: 4 bedrooms, up to 8 people and 3 bathrooms (two of them adapted for reduced mobility), with a private garden, a traditional granite barbecue and free parking at the door. Perfect for families and groups of friends who want to explore the region in complete privacy.
Ponte de Lima, vinho verde and fortnightly fairs
Ponte de Lima is a place to savour slowly. The famous Roman bridge, the riverside promenade, the cobbled streets and the gardens have earned it a reputation as one of the prettiest towns in the country. It is also the heart of the Vinho Verde wine route: at the estates nearby you can taste authentic Vinho Verde from the Lima sub-region, light and fresh, the perfect companion to a Minho summer.
- Roman and medieval bridge over the River Lima, the town's emblem
- Fortnightly market, one of the oldest in Portugal, documented since 1125
- Vinho Verde estates along the wine route, with tastings and visits
- Riverside trail and beaches along the Lima, great for walking and cycling
If your visit coincides with the Feiras Novas in September, you will catch one of the biggest festivals in the Minho, brimming with music, fireworks and tradition.
A home made for coming back at the end of the day
After a day in Ponte de Lima, the house invites you to slow down. The private outdoor pool and the garden set the scene for the warmest afternoons, while the granite barbecue calls for an open-air dinner with the Vinho Verde you brought back from the estates. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a capsule coffee machine, and the spacious open-plan living area has a table-tennis table for relaxed family evenings.
We welcome pets, there is free Wi-Fi, heating and free parking. See the spaces in our gallery and find more regional tips on our blog.
